Senior Design Verification Engineer

Microsoft is a world leader in the design of personal computer input devices. We are currently looking for a person with a passion for technology to drive test methodology development and product verification for PC peripherals. As a senior verification engineer, the candidate will play a key role in architecting test processes, tools, and methodologies for use across Microsoft Hardware's product portfolio as well as bring new products to market by leading test and validation activity on fast paced multi-disciplinary product development teams.

Roles and Responsibilities:
As a member of the design verification team, candidate will work closely with design, marketing and usability teams to translate customer needs and product use scenarios to measurable system performance attributes and test parameters. He/she will be responsible for developing comprehensive design verification plans that bridge high level product use cases to product architecture and details of implementation in hardware and embedded software. Candidates will be required to use a working knowledge of product's hardware system design and it's interaction with firmware, standard computer interfaces such USB, wireless interfaces, software drivers and operating systems to develop and execute test plans.
Candidates should be able to apply core electrical engineering hardware and firmware skills to drive detailed problem solving on products within a technical team, as well as manage broader industry standards, interoperability and compatibility testing with external development and test partners.
He/she should expect to use knowledge of critical performance metrics, product manufacturing environment and statistical data analysis techniques to develop manufacturing test requirements and limits.
Candidates should be able to engage with HW/ SW architects to achieve optimal balance of project priorities relative to performance, quality, extensibility, development cost, and product cost with focus on building robust, scalable solutions. Supporting hardware selection and implementation (make vs. buy, microprocessor and DSP processor selection, and providing input on firmware design by identifying technology trade-off) and providing risk analyses is expected during early product development stages.
A unique opportunity with this role is for an engineer to innovate on test and validation vehicles and methodologies that will be adopted by internal and external development teams for Microsoft Hardware products. Candidate in this capacity will be responsible for reviewing technology platforms across product lines and developing strategies on verification techniques and methodologies that will be applicable for multiple product development cycles. He/she will be required to partner with HW and SW architects and business teams to ensure planning for test infrastructure and requirements is integral to product and technology development plans.
Candidate should have excellent leadership and communication skills. He/she will be expected to lead technical teams consisting primarily of verification engineers in order to meet validation and test deliverables on product development teams. Within the functional discipline, she/he should be willing to provide guidance and mentoring to other team members. Additionally, this role will work with individuals and leaders across technical disciplines to build synergy and lead appropriate integration efforts to deliver effective and robust test solutions.
