Technical Art Director

The Technical Art Director is a senior position that is responsible for building content creation pipeline’s with a focus on quality, speed and simplicity. You will work on a small R&D team focused on incubating and prototyping advanced tools, workflows and pipelines, with the goal of decreasing iteration times for delivering best in class models and animations. The candidate will enjoy working with artists and engineers, as they ultimately own this relationship. Emphasis will be placed on creating a highly collaborative atmosphere where engineers and artist needs are exceeded.

Candidate Responsibilities:
- Design and implement simple, fast and elegant content creation pipelines.
- Owns the pipeline feature list and works with engineering on implementation.
- Supports artists by trouble shooting artwork, fixing work or pipeline bugs.
- Create and improve all art pipelines, including, but not limited to, workflow/NIS/lighting/VFX
- Owns shader creation, rendering, lighting and technical feature plan to achieve various visuals (high res, stylized etc).
- Evangelize new and proven techniques with internal and external partners.
- Define the best practices for the art team.
Candidate Requirements:
- Must have 8-10+ years of experience in video games, film/television or equivalent. At least 5+ years as a Technical Artist.
- Comfortable working in an environment with competing priorities and directional changes.
- Proven track record of continuously improving content pipelines.
- Deep understanding of data driven art content pipelines.
- Deep understanding of real time rendering, lighting and shading.
- DCC scripting experience.
- Understanding of rigging and animation workflows.
- Experience with commercial 3rd party game engine/middleware is a huge asset (Unreal, CryEngine, Unity etc).
- Experience working on Xbox, PS3 or Wii a must. Experience working in the film or television industries a big plus.
