As a Messaging and Identity Operations Engineer for the Microsoft Online team you will provide Microsoft's Messaging and Identity Operations team the technical expertise to take messaging to the next level. You will help shape the future of messaging as a service at Microsoft and for our enterprise hosting environment.

Working within a highly skilled “virtual team” including PM's, SM's, Engineering, Product Groups and other internal groups you will help manage new feature integration and deployments, and maintain the existing messaging environment. You will work with multiple technologies including next generation versions of Exchange, Windows, ISA, and DPM along with working with next generation hardware platforms.

The successful candidate should be very analytical, technically strong, have good communication skills, and be self-confident. Technical requirements include a strong knowledge of Exchange, Windows, architecture and enterprise client/server infrastructure (MCSE with Exchange MCP preferred). Experience with IIS, SQL, Telecommunications, networking, and hardware preferred. Certification in any of these fields (e.g. MCP) a plus. Other requirements include outstanding written and verbal communication skills and ability to manage conflict and negotiate resolution. A passion for improving processes and a commitment to customer satisfaction are both essential.

Key Responsibilities:
•Ensure the service quality of Microsoft's internal Exchange/Messaging environment and Hosted environment by providing the highest level of technical expertise and operational support.
•Encourage and actively drive initiatives for improved service to customers, in turn ensuring success in their business areas and higher customer satisfaction with Microsoft “Dogfood” solutions.
•Work as part of a highly skilled and motivated support team, and provide quality server support across the spectrum of messaging and identity services, including; Active Directory, DNS, Time Services, Mailbox Server, Mobility, Transport, and Unified Messaging
•Actively collaborating as part of the Messaging and Identity services group, to create and drive best practice and processes of infrastructure monitoring, measurement, and management.
•Ensure our internal customers and partners succeed in implementing and functioning with their business solutions using our products and technologies,
•Provide outstanding services to all customers, both internal and external.
•Facilitate and promote effective technical knowledge transfer to the 1st tier service operations team, with clear communication and problem solving methodologies by example
•Work collaboratively with other internal Microsoft groups to ensure a seamless service
•Work with various groups across Microsoft, including Engineering, PSS, PM/SM, along with Windows and Exchange development.
•Develop escalation and support procedures that will help the team meet set Service Level Agreements
•Drive automation of routine tasks by leveraging technology available within MSIT
•Consistently provide operational excellence within a 24*7 infrastructure which monitors and maintains systems across the globe.
•Performance analysis and reporting of key metrics to ensure service health
•Off hours escalation support may be required.

Education and Experience:
•Degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
•Microsoft Certified Professional in Exchange
•Minimum of 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience required.
•Understanding of performance tuning techniques for client/server architectures, particularly Exchange / /Messaging.
•In depth knowledge of SMTP and other messaging related Internet technologies required.
