Senior Product Planner, User-centric Client Management
Do you want to drive the strategy for the biggest product in the Microsoft management portfolio?
The System Center management business is a key growth engine within the Server and Tools organization and is the latest $1B business for the P&L. Configuration Manager has been the key contributor to reaching this milestone. Moving forward, we are continuing to invest heavily in the System Center brand and developing a broader portfolio of IT management solutions that will serve the management needs of business customers across all segments. A key success factor for the System Center portfolio and Microsoft will be how well we help customers master the complexity of their PC, mobile device, and VDI environments to enable user productivity and lower their total cost of ownership by delivering an integrated solution across System Center, Forefront, and Windows.
Qualifications:
For the user-centric client management business we need a strong leader with solid product and industry knowledge and well developed business acumen to work across engineering, sales and marketing to identify new growth areas for the business and develop our future product roadmap. The job will entail a combination of setting the strategy for extending the existing product as well as developing business cases for new, adjacent opportunities. This is a highly visible position within the organization with the charter to drive the future product direction of the major revenue contributing product in the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
• The user-centric client management product planner will be responsible for sizing the relevant market opportunities and driving a cross group team to define and deliver the right set of features and solutions needed to make sure Configuration Manager continues to grow its presence as the leading PC and mobile device management solution. Specific Responsibilities include:
• Gathering and validating customer and market requirements
• Driving the market requirements documentation needed to make product development decisions
• Interfacing with various engineering and planning teams to drive future product capabilities
• Acting as the SME for content required to educate analysts, sales force and partners
• Working across Microsoft to define the partner strategies necessary to execute on this strategic market opportunity
Position Requirements:
• Success in this role will require the development of strong working relationships and interactions with customers, senior executives, technical leaders, and other product & marketing groups across System Center and Microsoft.
• This is a very high visibility position which requires an individual with a strong understanding of industry trends, excellent analytical and problem solving skills, strong written and verbal communication skills and a solid ability to collaborate across the broader team.
• Successful candidates will have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the high-tech industry with a solid understanding of the infrastructure software market, and product management processes.
• A technical undergraduate degree and MBA are preferred.
