Please come join our team as the International Project Manager responsible for the localization of the Visual Studio Team Foundation Server product.
Visual Studio Team Foundation Server is the collaboration platform at the core of Microsoft's application lifecycle management solution that automates the software delivery process and enables organizations to effectively manage software development projects throughout the IT life cycle. Team Foundation Server enables the team to be more agile, collaborate more effectively, and deliver better quality software while building and sharing institutional knowledge.
The IPM will work closely to the core teams (PMs, developers and testers) and the International Project Engineer driving localizability best practices as well as being responsible for shipping the product in a number of languages.
Core Job Responsibilities:
§ Own and manage international versions of Visual Studio Team Foundation Server products: localization scope definition, schedule, visual freeze, Beta/CTP releases, RTM release;
§ Work with Visual Studio Team Foundation Server Developers and Program Managers to ensure features are complying with the up most localizability quality;
§ Work closely with the Visual Studio Team Foundation Server core teams to ensure the products/components are designed and ready for international markets;
§ Drive the piloting of the Visual Studio Team Foundation Server localization process using pseudo localization;
§ Evangelize localizability and localization to the core team;
§ Represent Visual Studio Team Foundation Server localization in product release planning (thru Tactics, OPS, Release meetings, etc…);
§ Work with the international team (including IPEs, IPMs, UE, and Intl QA), as well as with the Business Manager, on collecting project data and defining project metrics;
§ Contribute to the content of the localization kit;
§ Support external vendor (prepare instructions and processes to be used by external vendors, answer queries, etc) for your product areas;
§ Triage and resolve localization issues pertaining to your components;
§ Maintain up to date information on the localization team web site;
§ Participate at group wide effort to establish processes and best practices;
§ Contribute to team's CPE initiatives.
Qualifications:
§ 3 years of experience in localization/project management;
§ Strong project management and leadership skills;
§ Strong knowledge of localizability concepts and best practices;
§ Strong knowledge of localization engineering processes;
§ Experience localizing software products into one or more target languages;
§ Familiar with the localization process and/or tools (such as no-compile localization tools);
§ Familiar with product build processes and setup testing on various operating systems;
§ Strong written and verbal communication skills in English required and knowledge of other languages preferred;
§ Independent, self-motivated, and able to work under tight deadlines;
§ Ability to establish and maintain key contacts outside of our localization group;
§ Knowledge of a developer tool shipping in Visual Studio preferred, or familiarity with another programming language;
§ Being able to work at a world-wide level is a key requirement;
§ Strong technical background; a degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field preferred.
Some travel may be required.
