This opportunity might be the perfect fit for you.
.NET Services is one of the core offerings of the Microsoft Azure™ Platform. .NET Services are a set of Microsoft-hosted, highly scalable, developer-oriented services that provide key building blocks required by many cloud-based and cloud-aware applications. We are working on our V1 offering, so there is a huge opportunity to define and drive all aspects of the product, especially around quality. The position is a golden opportunity to explore a new set of problems that Microsoft has not been exposed to before. For example, we have a Queue Service in the cloud, our plan is to offer our customers an SLA like: 99% of your calls to the queue service should return in 500ms when there are less than 300 concurrent threads accessing the queue. Internally, we are also prepared to be able to handle up to a 100k queues by V1 and our architecture design scales without limits. Doesn't it sound exciting to have a chance to test that? Similarly, every action that our customers do on our services is closely monitored, and we charge for each of those actions, it literally translates to pennies/dollars, doesn't it sound exciting to test and ensure that we bill our customers is the right amount of money?
The primary responsibilities for this position include:
Test ownership of hard areas of the product like Usage, Billing, Deployment
Drive the technical strategy for the .NET Services test team
Champion tools and process to push quality all up
Work very closely with architects and senior team members to advice on how to tackle new complex problems
Driving activities like high visibility activities like COGS analysis or Scale studies
Driving key reliability measures for our system like SLA and KPIs (Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators)
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:
Excellent programming skills in C#, Java or C+
Excellent problem solving skills
The ability to work in a very fast paced environment, with lots of change and ambiguity
Passion for engineering excellence
Knowledge and experience in performance and stress testing
Knowledge and experience in distributed systems
Five or more years of experience in testing commercial software products
A BS or MS in computer science or related field
