The File Server Team, part of the Windows Server & Cloud Division, has an exciting opportunity for you to play a leading role developing technologies for enterprise file server scenarios. In response to market trends and customer demand, we are looking to enable whole new classes of applications on the Windows File Server, by adding significant new capabilities. This will require solving many hard problems in all areas from the core network protocols on up to end to end scenarios like backup, and ensuring high availability of the services through better integration with Windows Failover Clustering.
We are looking for strong engineers to help us build market changing new features in our SMB and NFS file system clients and servers. This is distributed system service or kernel level code, with a high degree of complexity/concurrency and demanding requirements for quality and performance. In this role, you would be expected to evaluate problems in this space, design solutions, and work closely with peers in Test & PM disciplines to drive solutions through to release. The work will require the right candidate to develop and apply knowledge of Windows systems internals, distributed systems, networking, storage, and security. There is great growth potential in the role for the right candidate.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated engineer who is up for this challenge. The candidate must have a BS or MS (or equivalent - although an MS is preferred) in computer science (or related field), 6+ years of experience delivering high quality software in a commercial environment (including at least one full product release cycle), be an expert in writing and debugging C/C++ code, and be familiar with the Windows platform. Experience working on any of system services, distributed systems, file systems/storage, network protocols, or kernel components, would be a significant plus, but is not required.
