The success of Xbox has been built upon the portfolio of core games from Microsoft Studios (MGS). The Core Games Publishing team’s charter is to partner with the best developers in the world to create the next great core franchises for this generation and future generations of Xbox.

We are looking for an experienced console video game software development engineer (SDE). This is a hands-on role developing advanced technology solutions and tools, innovating game features & experiences, and partnering with external development studios to deliver high quality products with solid software architecture and optimized code. This SDE position is a rare opportunity to work with world-class development studios and technologies to pioneer AAA games and new experiences.

This position involves:
- developing plans and software according to functional requirements & feature specifications
- collaborating with internal & external partners to deliver tools, technology, and feature work
- consulting on a regular basis with project leadership to align expectations and deliverables
- excelling at cross-functional collaboration and leadership
- multitasking between projects and teams

Microsoft Studios has a number of successful core franchises: Halo, Fable, Forza Motorsport, and Gears of War. Our job is to add new blood to this stable of AAA franchises. We have huge ambitions for what we want to accomplish, and we need a great software engineer to be able to help us get where we want to go.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- 6+ years of software engineering experience
- 4+ years of console video game programming experience (ideally on Xbox 360)
- Experience shipping multiple titles
- Proven software design, programming, optimization, and debugging skills in C++, C#, & scripting language (LUA)
- Ability to move between projects & teams, providing high quality work with a positive attitude
- Passion for console gaming and entertainment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Since most of our partners are not located in the Redmond area, you can expect to make four or more international trips a year; additional domestic travel is also required

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Expert in one more technology domains such as Networking, Animation, Rendering, AI, …
- Worked with numerous video game related middleware engines and packages
- Experienced interfacing with and supporting external studios and partners
- Prior work exploring and innovating new IP, genres, and product experiences
