SENIOR BUSINESS ANALYST MANAGER

The Global Foundation Services (GFS) is an exciting and fast evolving operational group within Microsoft. GFS' mission is to deliver industry leading core infrastructure and foundation technologies for Microsoft's online services. The organization is responsible for strategy and delivery of the foundational platform for all Microsoft Online Services including data centers, networking equipment, bandwidth, operational infrastructure, incident management. GFS supports over 200 online businesses including Search, Windows Live, xBox Live and Windows Azure branded services. Our infrastructure and associated practices are comprised of servers and data centers spread globally and applications that reach hundreds of millions of users every day. Our operations play a significant role in the future of MSFT's cloud strategy!

This is a great opportunity to be a key member of the GFS Business Controllership team and help drive the future success of Microsoft's online businesses. Today, the GFS Finance team supports over 500 people, with over $1 billion in annual spend and $1 billion of capital spend.

The Sr. Business Analyst Manager is responsible for supporting the GFS Online Operations; planning, forecasting and reporting cycles. This candidate is also the role is responsible for building strong relationships with the online businesses and becoming a trusted advisor across all the business groups GFS supports for online operations. He/she will be an active member of the GFS Finance team, providing input on strategic direction of the business model and the financial support of this high growth / high impact business.
The successful candidate should demonstrate a proven track record in financial reporting & analysis, Standard Costing methodologies, business partnering, leading managing virtual teams, the ability to influence others, process management and change management initiatives, exceptional collaboration and a keen understanding of how to drive results. The selected candidate will apply strong business and financial analytics to ensure the success of company strategies.

Core Responsibilities:

Online Operations Cost Model
Support in the development and implementation of the GFS Online Operations cost model, systems and reports for online operations
Assist in the optimization of the online operations cost model (rates, units, metrics, etc.) including improving cost identification, cost segmentation and cost controls.
Work to improve the understanding of key business drivers for the online businesses as it relates to the online operations cost model
Participate in cost analysis and benchmark studies.

Reporting, Analysis, Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist in the standard cost management reporting, forecasting and budget, including: strategic and long-term planning; analyzing and presenting current results, opportunities and risks; forecasting future results with rationale and justification, and identifying areas to drive cost management and efficiency initiatives
Prepare and conduct business reviews on monthly/quarterly basis to GFS management teams and online business groups, providing comparative actual results to budget/forecast, noting variances and analysis of drivers and recommendations for potential corrections
Analyze and review unit data to assess budget/forecast to actual cost per variances
Assist and deliver insightful analyses that continuously improves measurement of cost performance and enable business leaders to make well-informed decisions, as well as enhance planning and cost analysis to determine present and future opportunities
Assist in the implementation and management of the rhythm of business for budget, forecasting, reporting, and variance analysis for Online Operations Cost Management

Business Partnering
Build strong relationships through business partnering skills and written/oral communication. Become a trusted business advisor to the online business ops and finance teams.
Assist in the development, determination and communication of standard online operations costing methodologies for all services produced in a manner which supports management, operations and financial decision-making.

Requirements/Qualifications:
• College / university degree required
• MBA and/or CPA preferred
• 7+ years of demonstrated work experience in financial analysis and/or controllership, business analysis and planning
• Demonstrated experience in analytic, financial modeling, reporting and process improvement
• Strong written and verbal communications skills. Open, confident communicator effective in senior levels of engagement
• Exceptional executive maturity and a proven track record of executive-level cross-boundary collaboration
• Strong analytical skills with Excel required and skilled in other MS desktop apps
• A strong influencer across teams and organizations. Proven success in leading and participating in cross-functional teams to deliver on key projects
• Balance of technical and business acumen
• Demonstrated track record of exceeded established goals on a consistent basis
• Online industry experience a plus
