The File Server Team, part of the Windows Server & Cloud Division (SCD), is looking for a strong SDE/T to work on the SMB (Server Message Block) client and server components. SMB is the core protocol to share files and folders on a network and is as such a critical piece of the operating system. It is a kernel component with a high degree of complexity/concurrency and stringent requirements in the area of reliability and performance.
As a member of a the test team, you will work on the most challenging distributed testing problems, and use the latest test techniques to design and implement complex test solutions in the area of functionality, scalability, and reliability. You will also work closely with your development and PM counterpart to gain deep understanding of the end to end scenarios and help design a testable product. The work will require the right candidate to develop and apply knowledge of Windows systems internals, distributed systems, networking, storage, and security. There is great growth potential in the role for the right candidate.
We are seeking a strong SDET with deep passion for end user scenarios, strong technical and test skills, good communication and cross-group collaboration skills, and who is eager to learn, grow and make a big impact. Qualifications:
• A technical degree in computer science or equivalent required, post-graduate degree a plus
• 2+ years of experience writing and testing software in C/C++
• Proven ability in Windows Kernel mode programming/debugging
• Deep understanding of Windows OS Internals
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good cross-group collaboration skills
• Ability to multi-task and effectively manage concurrent initiatives
• Storage and file system experience is a strong plus
• Experience in networking and distributed systems is a strong plus
