Job ID: 785242-74465
Division: Interactive Entertainment Business
Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business is revolutionizing entertainment. IEB has a rich set of entertainment products like Xbox 360, Xbox LIVE, Zune Marketplace, and more with a highly active and engaged customer base. Our newest innovation, Kinect, has sold over 10 million units since its launch in November of 2010. The set of services making up the Xbox LIVE cloud is optimized around social, casual and hardcore gaming, and modern entertainment experiences. We're fun. We're social. We're interactive. And, we’re growing!
We are the Commercial Services team, better referred to as the C$ team. We own the services that drive the revenue of Xbox Live, the world’s best entertainment platform. If you have a gamertag, or if you’ve used your Xbox or Windows Phone to purchase a game, a song, a video, a subscription, or an app, then you’re one of our customers. Our business is measured by the number of Xbox Live Gold subscriptions we sell and how much money we generate for the company. The C$ team is front and center making both of these things happen. If you want to work on a team that drives business value, this is the team for you!
We’re on a mission to reinvent what’s already the world’s best commercial web service for entertainment as a frictionless, scale-out cloud platform for selling all kinds of digital goods. This includes all aspects of digital purchases and subscriptions, account management, offers, rewards, payment instrument management, points, marketplace federation, and mobile billing. C$ owns the stored value strategy for the Interactive Entertainment Business group (IEB), including related aspects such as gifting, relationships with payment partners, both internal and external, and provides rich platforms for advertising, offers, rewards and other merchandizing and commercial activities. The C$ team is the spearhead in the fight against attempted fraud; for us and our customers.
A C$ developer works on all services. We require that you can scale to understand the whole system and be able to go in and fix any issue, build any feature, or enable a scenario in any of the areas that we work in. You will make sure that the service is always up and always delivering customer value. Best of all, we ship early and often. We’re an agile team in an industry that requires agility and that includes an agile ship/release cycle.
We’re looking for a few great developers to complement our world-class team inside IEB. We expect applicants to have a strong history of designing, owning and shipping software, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills. You should have a complete understanding of the software development cycle, from architecture to testing. You should have a passion for quality and be a creative thinker. You should be able to write secure, reliable and maintainable code, and then effectively debug it, test it and support it live. You should be comfortable owning several features concurrently and making tough decisions independently. Experience building scalable cloud services, distributed systems, and/or database systems would be a definite plus.
To apply, you must have the following skills:
- 3+ years in designing and shipping applications and/or platforms
- Knowledge and experience designing across client/server, services for the cloud, and distributed computation
- Great design and problem solving skills
- At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
