Test System Engineer - Natal - Xbox Job

The Xbox team is looking for a strong experienced test system engineer to participate the qualification and validation of hardware for Project Natal, the device that defines the new revolutionary way to play game. As a test system engineer, you will work with design architects, system engineers, test leads on product planning, design, development testing, as well as manufacturing testing for high volume mass production. You will have opportunities to develop test strategies across your team and ship multiple complex products in high volume.
Qualified Candidate must have track record in demonstrating ability to set technical vision and strategy, incubate new ideas and technology and apply them to product testing to meet customer needs. Candidates should also have a broad understanding of PC or game console architecture, extensive knowledge of hardware product development processes and quality requirements of consumer electronic products, extended experience on hardware design verification process, and familiar with high volume manufacturing process and test. In addition, a successful candidate will have effective written and oral communication skills, very good cross-organizational and project management skills, excellent technical knowledge including test process/case design and development. A bachelor degree in engineering field and 10+ years of hardware testing experience is required. Previous experience in PC or game console and deep understanding of human input devices is a big plus.
The primary responsibilities include…
Work closely with development team, be the technical system engineer on defining new product testing frameworks, test tool development, test coverage and test methodology.
Provide technical guidance to manufacturing test team on efficient manufacturing test software and hardware development for high volume production.
Be the major test knowledge base and represent test team in project team, drive strong internal partnerships with different functions such as EE/FW, Program managers, marketing and manufacturing to ensure design verification & manufacturing test functions are deeply integrated into complete product development cycle.
Work with leaders and individual contributors, and external technology providers to understand the current test process and methodologies and identify where we can make technical investments to take it to the next level.
Set the strategic direction for the test organization.
Provide mentorship and help grow senior ICs in the organization.
Work with test leads to drive integration and adoption of best practices.
Required Skills
BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering
Minimum 10 years experience hardware development and testing
Experience with developing consumer electronic devices, leading & managing multiple concurrent development projects and at least 4-6 full development cycles
Experience with design and validation of embedded software (C, assembly) and real time operating systems (Win CE).
Detailed knowledge of USB interface technology and proven track record for USB protocol analysis and debug
Strong knowledge in optics, camera sensor verification and audio testing.
Demonstrated leadership in working through complex problems or ill-defined requirements
Strong skill-set in analytical problem solving.
Experience working with development partners in bringing high volume consumer electronics devices to the market.
Must be enthusiastic, motivated and self driven
Position requires domestic and international travel
