Job Description: Turn 10 Studios, the creators of the Forza Motorsport franchise and a division of Microsoft Game Studios, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Art Director to head up the Technical Art Department of Turn 10. This role includes leading a team, in collaboration with the Art Director, Audio Director and the Software Architect, to define technical content creation methods and processes that aim to efficiently and cost effectively achieve exceptionally high quality game content for our Next Generation games including the NATAL platform. This person is responsible for building and managing a team that provides production and technical support to Artists and Sound Designers, including; shader scripting, special effects, lighting, rendering, animation, modeling, game content pipeline design and maintenance. The Technical Art Director is a good communicator who can provide the requisite training, documentation and design to a group of Artists and manage a staff of technical artists.

Job Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Visual Art Director to implement the desired visuals in game
Develop appropriate art pipelines and workflow, working in conjunction with the Art Leads and the programming team.
Manage a team of technical artists.
Troubleshoot and solve technical art production issues.
Work with programming and tools teams to develop tools/scripts/plugins to streamline art processes, workflows and pipelines.
Participate in pre-production planning to determine and address technical design requirements and issues.
Train artists in the skills necessary to execute the art path efficiently.
Strive to maximize art production performance and predictability.
Drive the development of a photo/video reference system that enables easy and efficient access to massive amounts of reference material.

Qualifications:
BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Graphic Art or a related field.
Computer programming/scripting experience.
3 or more years of production experience creating real-time, next generation games
Complete understanding of 3D graphics principles and procedures
A strong understanding of next-generation content creation techniques
Strong knowledge of one or more major 3D animation packages, 3D Studio Max preferred.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Work well under deadlines and multi-tasks.
