The Compact and Consumer Group (CCG) delivers the Windows Embedded CE and Microsoft Auto products and continues to grow even in a down economy. While Microsoft has a strong presence in PCs, with a market size of 100s of millions, and mobile phones, with a market size of billions, we deliver the software needed to drive the 10s or 100s of billions of other devices - everything from the Ford Sync product to phones, vertical handhelds, digital picture frames, set top boxes, media players, thin clients, etc… the list goes on and on. Due to the multitude of partners we work with and devices our products run, we have perhaps the broadest industry exposure of any group in the company.
We are looking for a strong lead program manager who can own a range of key feature areas related to our systems and networking technologies. This includes technologies like our development tool story, network stacks and hardware integration strategy. This role requires not only the ability to manage a team of IC PMs, but also involves significant hands-on work related to the features, technologies and partner engagements as well as strong cross-group collaboration skills. The results of your efforts will impact millions of people's daily lives.
Responsibilities:
Managing PMs, including CSG and off-shore resources.
Deliver on technically strong solutions, and be able to resolve the technical problems of our customers.
Deliver a strategy and roadmap for your feature areas.
Hands-on PM ownership for some of your features.
Ensure successful delivery of high quality releases on-schedule.
Working with cross-group teams to deliver on end-to-end solutions that work for our partners and customers.
Responsible for driving engineering excellence in the day-to-day execution of the team
Qualifications:
Required: 7 years technical industry experience, including partner relationship management.
Required: Program management experience in at least one complete product release cycle required. Demonstrated ability to work with dev, test, and cross-group partners required.
Required: Experience managing a PM team.
Required: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required; experience in forming, communicating and executing on a vision that involves multiple interrelated technologies required.
Preferred: Experience working on development tools and passion for developer experience required.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electronic Engineering or related field.
