Lead Audio Test Engineer - Natal - Xbox Job

The hardware development team for Project Natal is looking for a lead audio test engineer with extensive audio design and test experience, who can grow the young audio test team, effectively develop and mature test methodologies, processes and techniques and drive test innovation and make sure we can deliver the superior experience to our customers. As the lead audio test engineer, you will work with product design architects, system engineers, test leads on product planning, design, development testing, as well as manufacturing testing for high volume mass production. You will have opportunities to develop test strategies across your team and ship complex product in high volume.
Qualified candidate must have track record in audio product design, development and qualification. Must have demonstrating ability to set technical vision and strategy, incubate new ideas and technology and apply them to product testing to meet customer needs. In addition, a successful candidate will have effective written and oral communication skills, very good cross-organizational and project management skills, excellent technical knowledge including test process/case design and development. A bachelor degree in engineering field and 10+ years of hardware testing experience is required. Previous experience in PC or game console and deep understanding of human input devices is a big plus. Experience with testing of products with sound capture or sound rendering features is a serious advantage.
The primary responsibilities include…
Work closely with development team, responsible for developing the audio test methodology, test cases, and managing the testing to well-recognized audio industry standards.
Develop the test schedule, manage the test team and execute the test plan to meet the project schedule.
Provide technical guidance to manufacturing test team on efficient manufacturing test software and hardware development for high volume production.
Provide mentorship and help grow senior ICs in the organization.
Work with test system engineer and other test leads to drive integration and adoption of best practices.
Required Skills
BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering
Minimum 7 years experience in hardware development and testing
Understanding acoustics, microphones, loudspeakers, and audio test equipment and methodology on expert level
Hand on experience with audio test equipment, such as Audio Precision and Clio
Experience with developing consumer electronic devices, leading & managing multiple concurrent development projects and at least 4-6 full development cycles
Demonstrated leadership in working through complex problems or ill-defined requirements
Strong skill-set in analytical problem solving.
Must be enthusiastic, motivated and self driven
Position requires domestic and international travel
