Microsoft E&D Manufacturing Test Engineering is growing. We are looking for a key technical contributor on the fast paced, high energy team responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining test equipment for Microsoft consumer products.
The position will have a lead role in the architecture, design, development, deployment, and solving of problems with factory test equipment hardware for new Microsoft Consumer Hardware Products such as Xbox and Zune. The successful candidate will own hardware solutions that solve technical problems with production test equipment. Evaluate and balance engineering issues for cost, continuation of supply, customer satisfaction, functional performance, and quality goals. Job function details follow:
Investigate, architect, and make technical design proposals for new designs and modifications to existing designs. Write design specification documents.
Own the hardware technology solutions of next-generation test hardware.
Lead and own the development of new test equipment designs from conception, design, prototypes, verification, and deployment.
Work closely with Software Engineers to develop integrated solutions.
Host design reviews and do technical presentations. Discuss and arbitrate peer and customer feedback including DFx input to improve designs.
Create Bill of Materials, do parts selection, and bring up and test prototypes to demonstrate functionality per specification.
Drive analysis and problem solving in the hardware domain
Work with HW Program Manager to mass produce, test, and deploy test equipment products.
Mentor and guide more junior engineers.
Our candidate will have excellent electrical design and debug skills, and strong electrical engineering fundamentals. Candidates are encouraged to show us previous design work. This person will have excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
5 years minimum relevant EE Development experience required.
Bachelor of Science Degree required.
Hardware Design Experience desirable in the following technologies: Electro-mechanical, Optical, Video display and touch, Vision, Audio, PC hardware, boundary scan, BIST, and transmission/receiving
Highly desirable to have Statistical Analysis experience with SPC, GAGE R&R, and JMP.
Prefer both Software and Firmware experience. Specifically in PLD, scripting, C++ and SQL.
Prefer experience with high volume consumer product design, manufacturing, and/or testing.
ATE or In-Circuit testing knowledge and experience is especially desirable.
BS in Electrical Engineering preferred.
