The Windows Marketplace for Mobile team is looking to hire a Regional Merchandising Manager (RMM), North America to drive merchandising and promotion to end users of applications, games and other content available through the new Marketplace service on Windows Mobile phones. The RMM, North America, will define and lead key elements of retail strategy and execution for this exciting new Microsoft initiative, driving day-to-day Marketplace merchandising in the important North America region. The position, which reports to the Manager, Worldwide Merchandising & Promotions, is located in Palo Alto, CA, the site of the Merchandising Center of Excellence for the Mobile Communications Business (MCB).

Your key responsibilities as RMM, North America will be to:
1) Plan and execute the day-to-day programming of all available Marketplace promotional inventory (i.e., featured applications) on the device client and the Web interface
2) Make strategic merchandising decisions using sales & popularity data, user feedback, market research, and input from other MSFT teams as well as external partners
3) Write copy & drive artistic/editorial vision for any visual merchandising assets
4) Support merchandising-related requirements from Mobile Operator partnerships in your region
5) Achieve key metrics for promotion frequency, campaign effectiveness, downloads and sales in your region
6) Work with Mobile Operator and Developer partners to develop integrated online/offline promotional campaigns involving Marketplace products
7) Advise the Developer Evangelist team on sourcing & roadmap priorities for new applications based on the needs and interests of end users in your region
8) Work with Merchandising Operations team to develop requirements for centralized tools, processes and information to make Merchandising execution more efficient and campaigns more effective
9) Serve as expert resource inside MSFT on end user consumption of Marketplace applications in your region
10) Regularly publish promotion plans to internal & external constituents

Key Qualifications:
1) Substantial professional experience (3-5 years) successfully managing and executing content publishing, promotions or retail merchandising for a consumer mobile or online service.
2) Experience with consumer marketing, including the ability to research and understand consumer trends, analyze market data and devise and implement promotion strategy
3) Experience working with external customers and partners on co-marketing initiatives, including taking a marketing or merchandising initiative from initial concept through to final execution
4) Experience in the gaming or consumer software industry preferred
5) Financial and business performance analysis and reporting skills, coupled with the ability to interpret and translate quantitative analysis into actionable merchandising activity.
6) Creativity and end-user focus; you should have the creative competency be able to craft compelling, actionable end-user messaging and merchandising themes
7) Strong written & oral communication; you should be a clear and direct business communicator (written & orally), with the ability to successfully influence and collaborate with others. You should be able to lead meetings or presentations with key internal and external partners
8) Strong organization and attention to detail, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
9) Experience and success in hiring and managing contingent staff resources
10) Capability to develop long-range plans and strategy and pursue growth initiatives while executing on week-to-week merchandising responsibilities
11) Ability to work across internal and external teams and manage across multiple interests
12) An interest in and passion for working with mobile applications
13) MBA preferred
