Our work is fast paced and the requirements are variable: sometimes we’re building prototypes and just fleshing out ideas, but when we sit down to architect shipping code, we build quality in from the start: performance, scalability, UI polish, testability, the works. We use whatever tools we need to get the job done. We write code in C, C++, C#, XAML, ASP.NET, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Python. We develop on all major platforms, on the client and in the cloud, virtual and physical, proprietary and open. And we consider all parts of the experience, from low-level optimizations to high-level design. We need engineers who thrive in this dynamic environment, who make the right tradeoffs given the requirements of the task at hand and who will work in concert with our strong Design, PM, and Test teams throughout the process.
Above all else, we’re passionate and driven. We’re trying, in no small terms, to change both the world and Microsoft, so we routinely go against the grain and challenge the status quo. But where we talk, we walk: if there’s a question that needs answering or an idea that needs proving, we don’t hesitate to get it done. We value this kind of initiative and creativity deeply: many of our major projects and initiatives started as a lone developer’s prototype.

Position Requirements:
• SDE with proven track record of success, passion for excellence in software engineering, and a strong inventive spirit
• Technical expertise in: client side web technology, graphics, and/or scalable server-side apps
• Strong desire to learn new things, build new expertise
• Passion for experimenting with the bleeding edge of web standards
• Ability to wear multiple hats, stepping in to help in the PM or test disciplines when required
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, ambiguous environment
