Are you passionate about creating thought-leading web sites? The Bing Entertainment Domains team is looking for top-notch developers who are interested in driving new functionality to leapfrog the competition in the search space.
We are seeking a candidate to help define and then take advantage of large-scale platform architectures to produce amazing, scalable functionality on Bing. This will involve close coordination with platform teams on a deep, architectural level as well as solid development skills. It is a requirement that you work well with other developers, cross-functional feature team members, and partner client and platform teams.
The Domains teams focus on creating great vertical experiences that help expand the Bing experience. The latest examples include Bing Weather (http://www.bing.com/weather?q=Weather), featuring weather forecasts from multiple providers around the web (when this job was posted, temperature forecasts for two days from now differed by over 6 degrees). We have several exciting new domains being created for the next release of Bing which will pull Bing ahead in several key areas.
The Domains Team values a great working environment. In the recent MS Poll, the Entertainment Domains team had 80% or higher scores in Career Development, Immediate Manager, Flexibility, Employee Engagement, and Rewards and Recognition.
Responsibilities include:
Independently designing, coding and shipping major vertical experiences
Working with other engineering and cross-divisional product teams to define and deliver great user experiences.
Producing high-performance and high-availability features
Contributing to engineering best practices and mentoring team members
Requirements and qualifications required for this position:
BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience required. MS/PhD is welcome.
Experience in cross-group platform design and development
5+ years of experience - software design and development skills with C/C++/C#
Great design and problem solving skills, with a strong bias for quality and engineering excellence at scale
5 + years of experience - for shipping features to end users at a fast pace
Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
Ability and willingness to work independently as well as in development and cross-functional teams
Solid product development experience
Desired Skills:
Web site development experience (minimum: 2 years, preferred 4 years) including HTML, XML, XSLT
Ability to provide technical direction to junior developers on the team
Strong track-record of coming up with novel ideas and executing on them
