Do your weekend hacks remain stuck on your hard-disk waiting for that last bit of TLC, or do you quickly earn commit rights and push your diffs back to sourceforge or github where you can see them improve software used everyday and impact real people out there?

Through the creative and disruptive, yet legendary engineering that created VoIP, Skype has grown ubiquitous across almost all major desktop, web and mobile platforms. Under the hood, we've built backend systems that are among the largest of their class and they're still growing fast in both transaction volumes and concurrent usage. We're not planning to stop here either - so we're constantly looking for the brightest minds to join us on our journey.

It doesn't matter if your cup of tea is Objective C, Java, Delphi, PHP, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, PERL, Python, C++ or good old ANSI C or if your favourite frameworks lie in Windows, Linux, OS X, iOS, Android or down other paths less well trodden. It is extremely likely that if you cut great code and care about how it gets done as much as getting it done - your unique skills are just what we'd like to have more of in the Skype world.

Growing from a small and nimble European startup to an organization with truly global reach, we've kept a close eye on avoiding the slowness and bloat commonly associated with "bigger corporations". We organize in small and independent Scrum-based product teams to shorten the time from ideas to shipping working code. Our engineers enjoy an environment tuned to enable growth and performance: tools, practices, training and continued investments back to all of those and are constantly looking for ways to "do it better".

We care about what we ship and so our quality engineers have a very important role. You can never have enough great people who love to point out the missing step in the sequence diagram, the failure mode in the state machine to develop scripts which simulate thousands of calls a night and simply enjoy working out what to do so that "it repeatedly breaks when I do this". Our software development teams work mostly out of our Tallinn, Tartu, Prague, Stockholm, Moscow and Palo Alto offices.

During the last 5 years Skype has been frequently recognised as one of the most influential consumer brands out there. We don't have the budget of other big players so we have to be clever and flexible in the way we reach new and existing users. In the marketing team, you'll be part of a group who grows and extends our brand in an innovative and fun way across all our regions. We do a lot of work independently, but also link arms with retail, hardware and other types of partners - so you'll get to work on a variety of projects and channels.

Our global marketing team is situated in London with regional teams in their respective offices.

Nice software on your mobile or computer is just the fancy face of Skype. Under the surface you'll find a team of hard-working operations people who make sure Skype's website, central services and network connections are online, available and stay that way. There are a number of things that require endless hours of tinkering, server testing and maintenance, and managing projects and processes both internally and with external partners. If you get excited about things like load balancing, server redundancy and large-scale data centre operations and can tell RJ11 socket from RJ45 by the smell, then join our operations team.

Skype is easy to use, right? Most people in the world would agree. However, glitches do appear and that's when our customer support steps in. Maybe you've just migrated from Windows to a Mac or Linux and you can't figure out how to send an SMS? Or maybe you've downloaded Skype to your new mobile but can't sync your contacts properly?
